CUS CIR NO. 94/2003 DATE 31/10/2003
Clarification regarding adequate infrastructure to be provided by custodian for their computerisation and link with the customs EDI at ICDs/CFS- regarding.
I am directed to invite your attention to
Circular No. 34/2003, dated 24.4.2003 on the above mentioned subject and vide para 2(a) , a provision was made to provide adequate infrastructure by custodian for their computerisation and link with the customs EDI at ICDs/CFS. However, doubts have been raised regarding the scope of the term “ adequate infrastructure” to be provided by the custodian.
2. The matter has been examined by the Board. In order to bring uniformity in automation at ICDSs/CFSs/EPZs and expedite the automation process it has been decided that the custodian would be required to undertake site preparation including civil works, electrical works, electrical fittings, air conditioning etc. They would also provide DG set for power backup and link to the EDI server (This connectivity is the link between the custodian’s computer system and the Customs’ EDI at the CFS/ICD, so that these two systems could exchange information/messages). The networking (LAN including active and passive components, any kind of cabling),communication equipments, UPSs, servers, PCs, dumb terminals, printers and other peripherals would be provided by Customs. The annual maintenance of these items will be borne by the respective agency providing the items.
Yours faithfully,
(D.S. Garbyal)
