Amendments in the exemption notification -inrease the effective rate of Basic Customs Duty for Marble and Travertine blocks, Marble slabs and Granite slabs with effect from 01.10.2016.
G.S. R. (E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No.12/2012-Customs, dated the 17th March, 2012, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Subsection (i) vide number G.S.R.185(E), dated the 17th March, 2012, with effect from the 1st day of October, 2016, namely:-

In the said notification, in the Table,-

(a) in serial number 110A, for the entry in column (3), the following shall be substituted, namely:-

"All goods, other than,-
(i) Rough Marble and Travertine blocks;
(ii) Marble slabs";

(b) after serial number 110A and the entries relating thereto, the following serial number and the entries shall be inserted, namely :-

(1)	(2)	(3)	(4)	(5)	(6)
"110AA	2515 12 20	Marble slabs	20%	-	-";

(c) in serial number 303A, for the entry in column (3), the entry "All goods, other than goods mentioned at serial numbers 303AA and 303AB" shall be substituted;

(d) after serial number 303A and the entries relating thereto, the following serial numbers and the entries shall be inserted, namely :-

"303AA	6802 10 00, 6802 21 10,6802 21 20, 6802 21 90,6802 91 00, 6802 92 00	Marble slabs	20%	-	-
303AB	6802 23 10, 6802 23 90,6802 29 00, 6802 93 00	Granite slabs	20%	-	-";
