Exempt Cameras (Validity Extended)
AS AMENDED BY 329/85, 67/88, 36/91, 104/91, 156/92, 101/95
Photographic cameras, cinematographic cameras and lenses, filters, flash light apparatus and
exposure meters required for use with such cameras (hereinafter referred to as the said goods), when imported into India, are exempt from :-
(a) whole of the basic duty of customs; and
(b) the whole of the additional duty. subject to the following conditions, namely,
(i) the importer produces a certificate from an Officer not lower in rank than an Under
Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the
effect that the importer is an accredited press cameraman and that he was not availed of the
exemption under this notification on any previous occasion in respect of any of the said goods;
(ii) the total C.I.F. value of the said goods does not exceed Rs. 60,000.
(iii) the importer gives an undertaking to the Assistant Commissioner of Customs at the time
and place of importation to the effect that the said goods shall remain in his possession,
control and use and shall not be sold or parted with for a period of five years from the date of importation.
2. This notification shall be in force upto and inclusive of the 31st day of March, 1995."
