In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (l) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenues), No. 11/97-Customs, dated in 1st March, 1997, namely:-

In the said notification, in the annexure, in Condition No. 29B, for clauses (a) and (b), the following clauses shall be substituted namely:-

"(a) the goods are imported by (i) the Ministry of Surface Transport, or (ii) a person who has been awarded a contract for construction of national highways in India by or one behalf or Ministry of Ministry of Surface Transport or by the National Highway Authority of India.

"(b) the importer, at the time of importation, furnishes an undertaking to the Assistant Commissioner of Customs to the effect that he shall use the imported goods exclusively for the construction of national highways and that he shall not sell or otherwise dispose of the said goods, in any manner, for a period of 5 years form the date of their importation; and".
