PUBLIC NOTICE NO 57/2000 Date : 24.05.2000

Subject : Filling of Export General Manifet (EGM) in EDI Export.

Attention of Exports, Importers, CHAs, Shipping Lines / Agents and all other concerned is invited to public notice no. 42/99 dated 22.03.99 Wherein procedure for filing Export General Manifest has been laid down vide para 20.1 and para 20.2 of public notice no. 42/99.

It may be noted that an EGM is required to be filed first in the EDI Service Centre where a running serial number and date of filing of EGM will be given. The same number and date is required to be mentioned on all other copies of EGMs to be filed by the shipping Agents/ Lines in the Export department and in MCD.

Shipping Lines / Agents are advised to obtain proper acknowledgement from the EDI Service Centre indicating the date and time at which the EGMs were received from them by the EDI Service Centre. Besides , it its also clarified that all shipping Lines / Agents will have to file EGMs in respect of Shipping Bills processed under Manual system also, first at the E.D.I’s Service Centre and after obtaining a dated acknowledgement thereof, bearing the E.G.M. number and date shall file copies of such EGMs along with exporters copy of Shipping Bills as per present practice in the Export Department and in the MCD.
