PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 56/2000 Date : 24.05.2000

Subject : Processing of DBK Shipping Bills on E.D.I. – regarding.

Attention of all the Exporters, Importers, CHAs and members of the trade is drawn to this Custom House Public Notice No. 42/99 dated 22-03-1999 and P.N.No. 120/99 dated 03-11-1999 where under the procedure for the computerized processing of Shipping Bills under the Indian Customs EDI Systems (ICES) – Exports was laid down.

It may be observed that while processing the D.B.K. Shipping Bills on EDI, various queries are raised by the DBK – Supdt. / AC-DBK through Query option in their Menus. These queries are conveyed to the concerned Exporters/CHAs through the EDI Service Center. It is learnt that the replies to such queries are not being handled in a proper manner.

It has been reported that in some of the cases the replies to such queries are not even perused by the concerned Officers who had raised such query yet the same are fed into the system by the Data Entry Operators of the C.M.C. This practice should be discouraged and stopped forthwith.

It is, therefore, desired that no reply to any DBK query should be fed into the EDI System by the CMC’s Data Entry Operators without obtaining prior acceptance from the concerned DBK-Supdt. / AC-DBK. The concerned DBK-Supdt. or the AC/DBK should put this dated signature and seal over such acceptance before permitting such reply to be entered into the system.
