Sub : Discharge of Waste Oil/Sludge.

In partial modification of instructions in public Notice No.10/98 dtd.04.02.1998, it is notified for information of importers, Custom House Agents and others concerned that henceforth, waste oil/sludge which is derived from the normal course of ships" operation and which is covered by the MARPOL 1973-78. Protocol (convention) is permitted to discharge without a licence and on payment of Customs duty. Permission to discharge waste oil/sludge is allowed only to those persons who are registered with Ministry of Environment and Forest and have reprocessing facilities approve by State Pollution Control Board.
