PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 53/2001
- Sub:
- Exports -Computerised Processing of
Shipping Bills -
Amendment in the S/Bills, EGMs/Rotation Numbers, etc.-
reg.
Attention of all Exporters/Shipping Lines/Shipping Agents/CHAs and all
other concerned is invited towards Public Notice No. 19/2001 dt.
19.02.2001 vide which new Export Module pertaining to computerised
generation of rotation number, vessel sailing report, modification in
EGM format, registration of permanent account number, implementation of
UN/LOCODE etc. was implemented at Mumbai Custom House with effect from
23rd February 2001.
Subsequent to the introduction of the same, it has been noticed that a
large number of errors are being committed by CHAs or by the officers
at the , time of processing of Shipping Bills. This has necessitated
frequent and avoidable amendments which now have to be done by DC
(Exports). Further, in the current format the new module does not allow
any amendment after the Sailing Report is fed into the system. As such,
a large number of E.P. Copies are not being printed due to mismatch of
data fed at the time or processing and data fed at the time of stuffing
report/sailing report or EGM.
As a temporary measure to ensure that the Shipping Bills do not hang
into the system after feeding of Sailing Report (which disallows any
amendments subsequently), it has already been directed that the sailing
report shall be fed into the system by the concerned Preventive
Officers of Customs only after 3 days of the sailing of the vessels.
During this grace period of 3 days it is expected that all requisite
amendments in the Shipping Bills and/or rotation numbers shall be
carried out by the concerned Exporters/CHAs/Shipping Agents, as the
case may be. Any failure in getting such amendments carried out within
this period of 3 days of the sailing of the vessel shall be viewed
seriously and the person concerned shall be proceeded against as per
law.
Without prejudice to the above, it is expected that all Exportes /
CHAs/ Shipping Agents will furnish correct and authentic data to the
concerned officers/personnels in the EDI Service Centre as well as to
the respective Customs officers posted in the Docks (Exports) so that
any error in the generation of EP copies/DEPB copies of the Shipping
Bills is avoided in future.
