PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 35/2002 DATE: 19.03.2002

Sub: Custom House Agent’s Licence under Section 146 of the Customs Act, 1962 Regulation 12 Sub Regulation 2(a) of the C.H.A.L.R. – 1984, Minimum volume of business – Fixation of – Reg.
The attention of Custom House Agent is invited to Regulation 12, Sub-Regulation 2 (a) of the Custom House Agents’ Licensing Regulation, 1984 according to which the Commissioner of Customs is empowered to refuse renewal of licence, if he finds that the volume of business transacted by the applicant as C.H.A. during the period to which that licence rates, is less than the minimum prescribed in this behalf.

In accordance with the provisions of the said Regulations, the minimum volume of business has been prescribed as follows for renewal of Custom House Agent Licence :

(i) 15 Documents (e.g. Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, Baggage Declaration Forms and T.P.) per year

OR
(ii) Clearance or shipment of 1500 packages per year or 2000 Tons for liquid bulk cargo per year.

AND
(i) Clearance or shipment of packages of value not less than Rs.5 (Five) Crores per year.

OR
(ii) Payment of duty not less than Rs. 1 (One) Crore per year.

This Public Notice supersedes this Custom House earlier Public Notice No. 35 dtd. 24.03.1976 issued in this connection. This Public Notice shall be valid upto 31.12.2006 and shall be reviewed w.e.f. 01.01.2007
