Filing of Bill of Entries through floppy in ICES – Import in version-3 Format

Attention of all importers, Custom House Agents and members of trade is invited to Public Notice No. 108/99 dtd. 30.09.99 wherein it was informed that in order to facilitate quick submission of Bill of Entry in the EDI system it was envisaged to accept data on floppy disks at the service centre located on the second floor of the Annexe building. At present the Bills of Entry at this Custom House is accepted in Version 2 format through floppy.

The present software has been modified and further developed for aiding Bill of Entry submission through floppy in Version 3 format, which is the latest version and is more user friendly.

The Bills of Entry may be filed through floppies in the revised format enclosed at Annexure ‘I’ to this Public Notice. This document explains in detail the file format of the Bill of Entry and the procedure of interaction with Custom. The trade may specifically note that the successful implementation of such submission of data, on floppies, is largely dependent on the accuracy with which the data is entered into the floppies. If the prescribed field length and other checks are not adhered to, the system would reject the data so submitted, on floppies. The trade is accordingly advised to exercise utmost caution in programming the floppies for such submission to the service centre. However, if data is accurately fed the same will help in expeditious processing of the documents.

The trade and all concerned are requested to avail of this facility of filing B/L through floppy which will be made effective from 09.06.03
