PUBLIC NOTICE 54/2004 DATE : 19.08.2004

Sub: Procedure for disposal of unclaimed/uncleared cargo under Section 48 of the Customs Act, 1962, lying with the Custodian – reg.

A Public Notice No. 33/2004 dated 03.03.2004 (copy enclosed) was issued on the above subject.

In the above said Public Notice, it has been, interalia, stated that the Custodians shall complete the process of disposal for the goods landed up to 31.03.2003 by 30.04.2004. Consequently, the Custodians have represented their difficulties to the Ministry of Finance. The matter was examined by the Central Board of Excise & Customs and it has been decided to extend the time limit for completing the process of disposal of uncleared / unclaimed goods landed up to 31.03.2003 by the Custodians from 30.04.2004 to 31.12.2004.
