Sub:- Implementation of the Risk Management System Creation of a Centralized CHA Directory – Reg.
Attention of the Custom House Agents (CHA’s) their Associations and all concerned is invited to Public Notice No. 54/2005 dated 15.09.2005 on the above subject wherein it was notified that a centralized PAN based CHA Directory is being created for which all the CHA’s were required to submit certain documents along with their PAN issued by the Income Tax Department by the 15th of October 2005.

At the request of CHA’s Associations the date for submission of the required information/ documents was extended up to 15.12.2005 by the Commissioner of Customs (Import), Mumbai.

However, it is observed that several CHA’s have not yet complied with the requirement and are yet to submit the information at the EDI service centre of this Custom House. Many of those who have submitted, have not yet verified the checklist generated by the EDI service centre without which their names cannot be registered in the centralized CHA Directory.

The CHA’s who have not yet submitted the required documents are once again reminded to do the needful latest by 15th January, 2006 after which no such applications will be entertained.

All CHA’s may please note that w.e.f. 1st Feb.’2006 the current CHA Directory would be deactivated and become invalid as the EDI system will not recognize their old registration numbers and it would not be possible for them to transact business without the new PAN based CHA registration.

It is brought to the notice of all that preparation of centralized CHA Directory is vital for implementation of Risk Management System.
