Proper Certification/attestation of EDI Shipping Bills

Sub:
Proper Certification/attestation of EDI Shipping Bills

It has come to the notice of this office that, sometimes exporters submit EP copies of Shipping Bills (especially EDI Shipping Bills) against their claims under the DEPB/DEEC/DFRC schemes without the signature of exporter or CHA on the Shipping Bill or without the full signature of the concerned Customs officer with his name and designation and the Customs oval seal on the shipping bills. It has also been observed that some times the mate receipts/shipment details are not given or manual entries of the same (in EDI Shipping Bills) are not duly certified by the concerned Customs authority on the Shipping Bills. Such deficiencies are rectified after they are raised by this office. To avoid such deficiencies the trade is advised to ensure proper attestation /certification on Shipping Bills before submitting their claims. Exporters may kindly note that in case the full description of the item exported as per the description under the relevant DEPB entry does not appear in the EDI Shipping bill due to space constraints, the customs attested invoice bearing the full description of the export product should accompany the EP copies of EDI Shipping Bills submitted to this office to avoid any deficiencies being raised on this account.
