TRADE NOTICE NO. 11/2003, DATE 26/02/2004
TN No. 2/2003, Dt. 15/07/03 - This office had sarted issuing IECs with dummy PAN
Attention of Trade is invited to Trade Notice No.2 dated 15.07.2003 whereby this office had started issuing IECs with dummy PAN as the exporters were facing problems in PAN issued to them by Income Tax Department, reportedly due to problems in server of the main computer of Income Tax Department. It was also due to the transition phase involving transfer of work of issuance of PAN from Income Tax Authorities to UTI.
In the same Trade Notice it was also stated that the IEC holders, whom IEC was issued with dummy PAN will revert back to this office with original IECs to get the original PAN (which is subsequently issued to them by Income Tax Department/UTI) incorporated. However, it has been noticed that the said IEC holders are not coming forward to get PAN numbers incorporated into their IECs. Therefore all such IEC holders (with dummy PAN numbers in IEC) are requested to immediately re-submit their IECs in original along with self certified copies of PAN Card allotted by Income Tax Authorities/UTI to get their IEC updated duly incorporating the real PAN.
All the IEC holders with dummy PAN are hereby requested to submit their IECs to this office within a period of 15 days for incorporating actual PAN allotted to them failing which, their IECs will be blocked.
Further since the system of issuance of IEC numbers with dummy PAN was started to take care of a temporary problems and since the concerned authorities have streamlined issuance of PAN, the said procedure has been stopped and all the applicants seeking of IECs should either submit self certified copy of PAN Card allotted by Income Tax Department/UTI or communication from the concerned authority (e.g. Query Result) duly authenticated by the issuing authority mentioning the PAN allotted to them. This procedure will immediately come into effect.
