(i)Opening of joint NRE accounts in the names of two or more non-resident individuals is permitted provided all the account holders are persons of Indian nationality or origin. When one of the joint holders becomes resident, authorised dealers may either delete his name and allow the account to continue as NRE account or redesignate the account as a resident/RFC account, at the option of the account holders.

(ii)The Non-resident (External) Accounts Rules, 1970 do not permit opening of such accounts by non-residents jointly with residents
