Notification No. 26/99-CE(N.T.), DT. 6-4-99

Amendment in the Central Excise Rules, 1944
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules, 1944, namely :-

1.

(1) These rules may be called the Central Excise Seventh Amendment Rules, 1999.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official Gazette.

2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944.-

(i) In rule 12, in 'Explanations', in clause (ii), for the word ""consumables"", the words and brackets ""consumables (other than fuel)"" shall be substituted;

(ii) in rule 13, in 'Explanations II ', for the word ""consumables"", the words and brackets ""consumables (other than fuel)"" shall be substituted;

Note : The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India vide Government of India Extraordinary Notification No. IV D-CE dated 28.02.1994 and the rule 12 was last amended by Notification No.30/98-Central Excises (NT) vide G.S.R. 515(E) dated 24.08.98. published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary; and the rule 13 was last amended by Notification No. 1/98-Central Excise (NT) vide G.S.R. 49 (E) dated 23.01.98., published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary.
