Registration of contracts for export of cotton by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade

 

S.O. (E) In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with Para 2.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2009-14, the Central Government hereby makes, with immediate effect, the following amendments in respect of Sl. No. 161 A { ITC(HS) Classification } in the Notification No. 58/2009-14 dated 17.08.2010 read with Notification No. 6(RE-2010)/2009-14 dated 30.09.2010:-

[OLD- 161A 5201   Cotton, not carded or combed   The contracts for export of cotton, during the Cotton Season 2010-11(up to 30.09.2011), shall have to be registered with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade prior to shipment. Customs would clear such cotton export consignments [ITC (HS) codes 5201 & 5203] only after verifying that the contracts have been so registered.

[OLD-The contracts for export of cotton shall be registered with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade prior to shipment. During the Cotton Season, 2010-11(upto 30.09.2011) the export of cotton will be subject to a cap of 65 lakh bales or as notified by DGFT from time to time. Clearance of cotton consignments by Customs should be after verifying that the contracts have been registered.]

3. The effect of this notification:-

The export contracts of cotton (Tariff Codes 5201, 5202 & 5203) will now be registered by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade. Earlier, such registration were with Textile Commissioner, Mumbai.
