Import of Beef in any form Prohibited


S.O. (E) -In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of 1he Foreign Trade (Development and Regulations Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC (H'S) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002 published on 31st March, 1997 (RE-98) as amended from time to time, namely-

2. The following shall be added after Para 2 of chapter 1 A: General notes regarding import policy of ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997 -2002:

3. Import of Beef in any form and import of products containing beef in any form is prohibited.

4. All consignments of edible oils and processed food products, imported in bulk, shall carry a declaration from the concerned exporter on the shipping documents that the consignment does not contain beef in any form. All consignments of edible products, imported in consumer packs, shall carry a declaration on the label of the package that the product does not contain beef in any form."
