PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 31/2001

Subject: Debit of SIL on EDI Bills of Entry -reg.

Attention of all Importers, Exporters, CHA" s and members of Trade is invited to para 13 of Public Notice No.84/99 vide which procedure for debiting of import licence on the EDI System was prescribed.

Subsequent to the receipt of EDI Import software for the Financial Year 2001-02, it is hereby notified that the SIL will no longer be debited on the EDI System in the month of March 2001 and only manual debit of SIL will be done in the Licence Section itself. Suitable endorsement to that effect will be made in the Customs copy of Bill of Entry by a special Appraising Officer posted for this purpose in the Licence Section. In view of the same, it is informed that Licence column of Sr.No.20 of Annexure I of the Check List will no longer be required to be filled in by the CHA/Importer.

As a facilitation for Trade, it is also prescribed that no queries will be raised for submission of SIL by the Group. Instead, Groups would be incorporating the fact of verification of SIL debit in the Examination Order. As such, CHA/ Importer can get the SIL debited after assessment by the Group from the Licence Section manually and get the same endorsed in the Customs copy of the Bill of Entry. This will be verified by the Docks Appraising Officer before granting Out of Charge.

This is for strict compliance by all concerned.
