Sub: Presentation of the Union Budged for the year 2001-2002; Instructions regarding Noting of Bs/E etc….

The Union Budged for the year 2001-2002 is likely to be presented at 11.00 AM on 28th Feb. 2001. In terms of Section 4 of the Provisional Collection of Taxes Act, 1931, the provisions of the Finance Bill will take effect from the midnight of 28.2.2001/1.3.2001. The rate of duty and tariff valuation of imported goods is governed by Section 15 of the Customs Act which stipulates that the same shall be in force on the date on which the Bill of Entry is presented or the date of entry inwards, whichever is later.

This is for the information of importers/CHAs and all other concerned that no Bill of Entry will noted at CFS(Mulund) after 18.00 hrs on 27.2.2001 onwards till midnight of 28.2.2001/1/3/2001. Similarly, no clearances will be allowed from any bonded warehouse under Section 68 of the Customs Act, for excluding the warehoused goods after 18 hrs on 27.2.2001 onwards till midnight of 28.2.2001/1.3.2001.
