Sub: Attention of Steamer Agents, Importers, Exporters, Custom House Agents and all Trade is invited to the Customs

1. Attention of Steamer Agents, Importers, Exporters, Custom House Agents and all Trade is invited to the Customs (Fees for Rendering Services by Customs Officers) Regulations, 1998.

2. The Trade had represented that the ‘Customs Work’ performed during prescribed office hours and within Customs area should not be charged to Merchant Over Time (MOT).

3. It is reiterated that normally MOT is not charged for the ‘normal Customs Work’ during the prescribed working hours within the Customs Area. However, it has been decided that as a Trade Facilitation measure, the following types of ‘Customs Work’ performed during prescribed working hours within Customs Area would not be subjected to MOT charges:

a)Supervise re-working of containers (transferring the cargo from damaged containers to another container);

b)Forwarding bonded cargo under punch seal / bottle seal to other station;

c)Receiving cargo into bonded warehouse within the CFS, if applicable;

d)Ex-bonding of cargo from bonded warehouses in CFS;

e)Forwarding of imported cargo from CFSs/Port to bonded warehouses / EOU;

f)Examination of over-dimensional cargo, vehicles and damaged containers at port
