Sub: Exemption from Bank Guarantee for transshipment of Import and export cargo from Gateway Ports to Feeder Ports/ICDs/CFSs and vice versa – reg.

Attention of the importers, Steamer Agents, Custom House Agents and all other concerned is invited to this Custom House Public Notice No.108/2001 dated 14/09/2001.

In the said Public Notice, it was decided to reduce the amount of security from 25% to 15% of bond value submitted for transshipment by Carriers/ Custodians. Trade has represented that “Shipping Lines” who are handling more than 5000 TEUs (Import Containers) per financial year and involved in transshipment of import cargo from any Gateway Ports to feeder ports/ICDs/CFSs, should be exempted from furnishing Bank Guarantee.

The matter has been examined by the Board and it has been decided to waive the conditions of Bank Guarantee for “Shipping Lines” who are handling on an average more than 5000 TEUs (Import Loaded Containers) in a financial year and are involved in transshipment of import and export cargo from any Gateway Ports to feeder ports/ICDs/CFSs and vice versa, by road.

Public Notice 108/2001 dated 14/09/2001 stands amended to the above extent.
