Sub:- Right to Information ACT, 2005 – Creation of Right to Information Cells – PRO section, Ground Floor, New Custom House, Ballard Pier, Mumbai -01 under Section 6 read with section 8 & 24 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 – reg.

The Attention of the citizens of India is drawn to the provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005 which came into operation w.e.f 12.10.2005. In this regard, it is brought to their notice that this Commissionerate has created two Right to Information Cells (hereinafter called ‘RTI’ cells). One ‘RTI’ cell called the CAPRTI (Import) cell will be functioning under the supervision of Dy. Commissioner (Appraising Main) nominated as Central Assistant Public Information Officer (CAPIO), office of PRO, Ground Floor, New Custom House, Ballard Pier, Mumbai – 400 001, having the phone no.22634531. The second ‘RTI’ Cell called the CPRTI(Import) cell will be functioning from the Office of the P.A., Commissioner of Customs (Import), 2nd floor, New Custom House, Ballard Pier, Mumbai - 400 001. This cell will function under the supervision of the Commissioner of Customs (Import) who has been designated as the Central Public Information Officer (CPIO).

2. Any citizen of India seeking information relating to the Commissioner of Customs (Import), Zone – I, Mumbai may apply in the format prescribed (ANNEXURE-A) and submit the same in either of the two RTI cells. The applicant for information has to be accompanied by prescribed fees for which a separate Public Notice is been issued.

3. The applicants has to pay the prescribed fees through a TR-6 challan under Miscellaneous Head in the Bank of India, Ballard Pier Branch, Ballard Pier, Mumbai 01. The amount can be paid by way of cash or by draft/banker’s cheque drawn in favour of ‘RBI A/c, Commissioner of Customs (Import), Mumbai in the above referred Bank to avoid any delay. The evidence for such payment should be enclosed along with the application (Annexure –A) failing which the applications will not be accepted.
