NOTIFICATION NO. 13(RE-99)/1997-2002 Dated the 15th June, 1999

Silk Import- Customs Adjudication of Consignments if not Certified by Foreign Inspection Agency


In exercise of powers conferred under section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 read with paragraph 1.3 and 4.1 of the Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002. The Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the Notification ofGovernment of India, Ministry of commerce No. 11 (RE-99)/1997-2002 dated the 3rd June,1999,namely:-

In the said notification, under (4) appearing in para 2 thereof, the following shall be added at the end of clause (ii):

"However, consignments not certified by any foreign inspection agency and found to below grade 2A, upon prescribed testing of samples by the Central Silk Board, are to be held as imports not permissible under import policy and shall be adjudicated by the customs authorities accordingly".

This issues in Public Interest.
