Raw Silk Grade 2A only import allowed under SIL
S.O.(E) In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation ) Act, 1992 (No. 22 of 1992) read with paragraph 4.1 of Export and Import Policy, 1997-2002 and in supersession of earlier Public Notice Nos. 47 and 50 dated 08.10.98and 15.10.98 respectively issued on the subject, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the ITC(HS) Classification of Export and Import items 1997 - 2002 (RE-98), as amended from time to time, namely-

Import of Mulberry Raw Silk conforming to Grade 2A and above only is canalised through National Handloom Development Corporation(NHDC), Handicrafts and Handlooms Export Corporation, State Handloom Development Corporations and other State Corporations dealing with Handloom /powerloom and Silk. Before finalising any import contract, the above mentioned shall canalising agencies inform Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. |

Import of Mulberry Raw Silk Conforming to Grade 2A and above only is permitted against Special Import Licence (SIL). However, c.i.f. value of he surrendered Special Import Licence (SIL) shall be three times the c.i.f. value of the imported goods. |
