Bulk Licences for Rough Diamonds -Export Supply Conditions Changed.
Precious, Semi-precious stones beads and articles export as samples permitted.


In exercise of powers conferred by section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development andRegulation) Act, 1992 (No.22 of 1992) read with paragraph 1.3 of the Export and Import Policy.1997-2002 (incorporating amendment made upto 1 3.4.98), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the Export and Import Policy 1997 -2002: (incorporating amendmentmade upto 13.4.98).

1. Second sentence of Paragraph 8.10 is amended to read as follows:

"The supply/export of such rough diamonds shall be completed within a period of 12 months from the date of issuance of licence or within a period of 3 months from the date of import whichever is later"

2. Second sentence of Sub-paragraph (b) of Paragraph 8.20 is amended to read as follows:

"Personal carriage of gold/silver/platinum jewellery, precious, semi-precious stones, beads and articles as samples upto US $ 100,000 for export promotion tours and temporary display' abroad is also permitted with the approval of GJEPC subject to the condition that the promoter would bring back the jewellery/goods within 45 days from the date of departure."
