Amendments in Scheme for Export of Jewellery
In exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2004-2009, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby makes the following amendments in Handbook of Procedures (Vol. I):
1.
Paragraph 4A.2.1 stands amended as follows:
“Under the Scheme for Export of Jewellery, the value addition shall be calculated as per paragraph 4A.6 of FTP.
The minimum value addition on average per consignment shall be:

a) | Studded gold/platinum/silver jewellery and articles thereof other than those covered by entry (b) below. | 15% |
b) | Plain gold/platinum/silver jewellery/Articles and ornaments like Mangalsutra Containing gold and black beads/Imitation stones, precious stones and semi precious stones, cubic zirconia, diamonds, pearls etc. However, if the per gram value of the precious stones, semi-precious stones, studdings utilized in the making of jewellery/articles is more than the per gram value of gold/silver/platinum, the value addition of 15% as has been prescribed at (a) above shall be achieved. | 7% |
c) | Any jewellery/articles manufactured by fully mechanized process. | 3% |
d) | Gold/silver/platinum medallions & coins (excluding the coins of the nature of legal tender) | 3% |
e) | Gold/silver/platinum finding/mountings manufactured by mechanized process. | 5% |
2. The heading of
paragraph 4A.18 (a) (ii) stands replaced by the following:
“Personal carriage of gems & jewellery for export promotion tours.”
3. The words “or import of plain/studded jewellery” appearing in
Paragraph 4A.28 stands deleted.
