Procedure for import of certain items under the India-Nepal Treaty of Trade signed on 2.3.2003

In exercise of powers conferred under Paragraph 2.4 of the Export and Import Policy 2002-07, as notified in the Gazette of India extraordinary, Part-II Section 3, Sub Section (ii) vide S.O. No. 349 E dated 31.03.2002, as amended from time to time, the Director General of Foreign Trade hereby notifies the following amendments in Public Notice No. 9/2002-07 dated 30.04.2002 prescribing the procedure for import of certain items under the Indo-Nepal Treaty of Trade signed on 2.3.2002:-

1. The following sub Para 1A shall be amended to read as under:

“However the time period for import of Vegetable fats (Vanaspati) from Nepal for the year 2003-04 shall be extended up to 05.09.2004 and the unutilized quota shall not lapse till this date. The annual quota of 100,000 MTs of Vegetable fats(Vanspati) for the financial year 2004-05 from Nepal shall be permitted for import from 6.9.2004 to 5.3.2005 and thereafter no imports shall be allowed.”

2. Para 2 of Public Notice No. 30 dated 23.10.2003 shall be amended to read as under:

"State Trading Corporation (STC) shall be the sole agency to make imports of vegetable fats (Vanaspati) upto the indicated quantity on annual quota basis. Other conditions of the Public Notice No. 9/2002-07 dated 30.04.2002 shall remain unchanged.”
