Import of approved and unapproved drugs under the Advance Licensing Scheme-Exemption from Registration Procedure.

Reference: Policy Circular Nos.9(RE-2004)/2002-07 dt. 30/6/2003, No.15(RE-2003)/2002-07 dt. 17/9/2003 & No. 33(RE-2004)/2002-07 dt. 30/4/2004

In continuation of Policy Circular No.9 dt.30/6/2003, No.15 dt.17/9/2003 and No.33 dt.30/4/2004 whereby import of approved and unapproved drugs are allowed under Advance Licencing Scheme without requirement of registration procedure under Drugs and Cosmetics Act, the following further conditions are now imposed in addition to existing conditions.

    (a) No Advance Licence shall be issued for a period of 30 days from the date of issue of this Policy Circular for import of Penicillins and its salts (ITC HS Code 29411010)

    (b) Wherever import of Penicillins and its salts (ITC HS Code 29411010) is allowed under advance licensing scheme, export obligation period for such licences shall be restricted to three months from the date of clearance of import of first consignment. An endorsement in the Advance Licence shall be made by the Licencing Authority to this effect.

    (c) No further Export Obligation period extension shall be allowed in these licences.

    (d) Wherever Advance Licences already issued for import of Penicillins and its salts (ITC HS Code 29411010) no further Export Obligation period extension shall be granted.

This issues with the approval of DGFT.
