Wheat Products -5 lakh tonnes export-ceiling released


Subject: Export of Wheat Products during the licensing year 1997- 9.8

Attention is invited to the entry at SI.No. 12(i) of Schedule 2 Appendix-1 of the book titled"ITC(HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items, 1997-2002."

2. It has been decided to release a ceiling of 0.5 million tons (Five lakhs tons) of wheat products, whether in Bulk or in consumer packs, for export during the current licensing year of 1997-98. The above ceiling of five lakh tons of wheat products is placed at the disposal of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), who shall register contracts on first come first serve basis and issue Registration- cum-Allocation Certificates (RCACs) as per procedure to be specified by APEDA keeping in view the guidelines contained in this circular. The RCACs so issued shall be valid for a period of 30 days only and that no extension in validity period of such RCACs shall be granted by the APEDA under any circumstances. If by 31 st day no communication is received from the exporter, to whom the RCACs have been issued by APEDA for the export of permitted quantity of wheat products, the RCACs would be cancelled and the same re-allocated to the next waiting applicants in chronological order as per the procedure prescribed above.

3. APEDA will ensure that the overall ceiling earmarked for wheat products shall not exceed the limit of 0.5 million tons (5lakh tons) for the current licensing year of 1997-98 under any circumstances. As soon as the ceiling is exhausted, APEDA will report this fact to the Ministry of Commerce, EP (Agri. II) Section as well as to this office.

4. A Trade Notice may be issued for the information of the Trade and five copies thereof may be sent to this office for record.

5. APEDA shall furnish monthly statement indicating the full details such as name of the exporter, quantity allowed, FOB value and destination to the M/o Commerce, EP (Agri.ll) Section with a copy to the Director of Statistics of this office.
