Seeking to amend the list of specified goods mentioned in SL No. 16 of notification 39/96-Customs so as to include "high performance polyethylene plates".
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of tile Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue),No.39/96-Customs, dated the 23rd July, 1996, namely:-

In the Table, against S.No.16, in column 2, for tile ords "ballistic grade ceramic plate", the words "ballistic grade ceramic plate, high performance polyethylene plate" shall be substituted.
