Supersession of the notification No.118 Customs dated 4th May, 1963
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) and in super session of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No.118 Customs dated 4th May, 1963, the Central Government, being satisfied that for the maintenance of security of India, it is necessary so to do, hereby prohibits the export on a scale of one-fourth inch or more equal to a mile and the micro-films obtained from such maps depicting any part of India including its international boundaries and showing topographical features by contours.
Provided that the prohibitions to export under this notification shall not apply in respect of the maps of Geological Survey of India (GSI) on scale of 1:2,50,000 and larger (non-digitized) of unrestricted areas only, if the Geological Survey of India ensures that no civil vulnerable areas or vulnerable points, contours and spot heights, important strategic locations or any information relating to them is depicted on such maps.
