CUSTOMS NOTIFICATION No.49/1998 Dated 18th July, 1998

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (I) of the section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby make the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue). No. 137/90-Customs, dated the 20th March, 1990, namely :-

In the said notification, -

(i) In the conditions relating to clause (a),-
(I) in condition (iv), for the words and figures "Baggage Rules, 1994", the words and figures "Baggage Rules, 1998" shall be substituted;
(ii) in condition (v), for the words and figures ""rule 4A of the Baggage Rules, 1978", the words and figures "rule 5 of the Baggage Rules, 1998: shall be substituted;

(i) In the conditions relating to clause (b),-
(I) in condition (i), for the words "and in transferring his residence to India for a minimum stay of one year", the words "and has not availed this concession in the preceding three years" shall be substituted;
(II) in condition (iv), for the words and figures "Baggage Rules, 1994", the words and figures "Baggage Rules, 1998" shall be substituted;
